Silybin 140mg Capsule contains Silymarin, an herbal remedy with a long history of use for liver diseases. Silymarin promotes cellular regeneration of hepatocytes (liver cells) through the stimulation of RNA polymerase enzyme activity. It enhances liver function, aids metabolism, and improves digestion.

Pharmacology

Silymarin, a flavonoid complex of Silybum marianum or Milk thistle, is the biologically active component. It provides hepatocellular protection through toxin blockade at the membrane level, and enhances protein synthesis, antioxidant activity, anti-fibrotic activity, and possible anti-inflammatory or immunomodulating effects.

Dosage & Administration of Silybin 140mg Capsule

1 capsule 2 to 3 times daily or as directed by a physician.

Interaction

• The effect of hormonal pills such as estrogen, and progesterone decreases when used concomitantly with Silybin 140mg Capsule.
• Silybin 140mg Capsule increases the effect of diazepam, alprazolam (an antipsychotic medicine), ketoconazole (antifungal), lovastatin (lipid-lowering medicine), and vinblastine (cancer medicine) when used concomitantly.
• Discuss with your doctor any other medicine, herbal preparation, and supplements you are taking currently to avoid any possible interactions.

Contraindications

• If you are allergic to Silymarin or any other component of the Silybin 140mg Capsule.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Pregnancy & Lactation

There is no evidence that Silymarin 70 mg or 140 mg can be used during pregnancy or lactation. As a result, if needed, Silymarin 70 mg or 140 mg should be used with caution and only as directed by a physician.
